The 48th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair
The 48th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF) has amazed the global gems and jewelry industry once again with several new innovations unveiled in September 2011. Organized by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) with support from the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), the BGJF is recognized as one of the world’s top-five gems and jewelry trade fairs as well as Asia’s biggest under one roof.
Thailand is well-known by global gems and jewelry traders as one of the world’s most important hubs for gold and silver jewelry production as well as cutting and polishing of colored gemstones, a specialized skill of expert Thai craftsmen that is being promoted by the TGJTA through the Ploi Thai country brand.
For more than two decades, the BGJF has been a gateway serving global buyers, traders, manufacturers and suppliers, offering a wide range of selected products at reasonable prices. Visitors can be assured that they will find what they need in the all-in-one, world-class marketplace featuring 1,754 local and international exhibitors at more than 3,000 booths.
At the 48th edition of the fair, the BGJF aimed to spotlight the country brand Ploi Thai proudly once again. To continue the aspiration set by the TGJTA to make Thailand accepted as the “World’s Gems and Jewelry Hub,” the Ploi Thai country brand aimed to create a single awareness for all gemstones cut and polished in the Kingdom of Thailand. Ploi Thai will also be a trusted brand by everyone in terms of quality and price. The philosophy behind Ploi Thai is to make known the quality and experience of expert Thai gems and jewelry craftsmen, who have long been known as one of the world’s finest producers of gemstones and jewelry. In addition, they have presented the state-of-the-art “Ploi Thai Jewelry Creation Award” where designers challenged each other to create their finest work with glittering gems set in the words “Ploi Thai.”
Another highlight of the 48th BGJF was the Design Pavilion, a proud symbol of Thailand’s exceptional creativity and inventiveness. It was also a proud platform for partners, the DEP and SWAROVSKI GEMSTM, who presented their new creations at the Design Pavilion Trend 2012 in the foyer of Challenger II. |
